Vicent Baydal is Assistant Professor of History of Law at Jaume I University, in Castelló de la Plana, Spain. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Oxford, where he carried out a research project on the medieval origins of parliamentarism in several European territories. He has published six books and over thirty book chapters and articles on political history and tax systems in the medieval Crown of Aragon, and he also specializes in the study of the evolution of collective identities from the Middle Ages to present. He is a member of the International Commission for the History of Representative and Parliamentary Institutions and his current research focuses on analysing the proceedings of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Valencia between 1238 and 1479
