Lluís To Figueras is Senior Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Girona. Previously  he was Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona (1984-1989) and then Maître de Conférences at the University François Rabelais of Tours (1989-1990). He obtained a master’s degree at the University of Toulouse-Le Mirail in 1984 and a doctorate from the University of Barcelona in 1989. During the academic year 2009-2010, he was a member of the School of Historical Studies at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and has been a Visiting Fellow of Claire Hall College in Cambridge in 2017-2018. His research has focused on the family structures in Catalonia from the 10th to the 12th century and on Catalan serfs and peasant holdings (“masos”) in seignorial domains during the Late Middle Ages. His current research project deals with trade and consumption of textiles in Catalonia during the 13th-14th centuries, with sources mainly from the archives of Vic and Girona.
